Despite the abundance of single-cell sequencing studies focused on exploring the human brain, information on the role of the blood-brain barrier and brain vasculature in human disease remains limited due to inherent challenges in studying these key central nervous system (CNS) components.
Gaining this insight is critically important not only for our understanding of human disease, but also for our ability to design effective treatments, as the brain vasculature regulates entry of therapeutics into the brain, creating an obstacle to treating CNS disease.
